If you really want to build a career, you should be able to work for a boss who wants you to succeed.
I love my job, but sometimes that doesn’t get me what I want very often. Not long ago I had to make a bunch of changes to my schedule to accommodate new family and, in my case, a new company a few hours away. My boss was very understanding, and I ended up being offered a severance package, which I accepted.
Not to mention the compensation package I was offered. I was offered a package that included not just a salary, but a generous signing bonus, a company car, and a bonus for staying in the office for a couple of hours at a time. I wouldve preferred it if it included more money, but even a very nice package is probably not worth the money I’m spending on gas. When I asked my boss what his salary was, he didn’t know.
