As it turns out, the old map is a lot less fun than the new one. Its random location generation means that new locations are not as challenging to explore, and the map is more confusing as well. But that’s the thing about random maps. They don’t make it any more fun.
But if you want to explore a new area of the game, you can also go to the map and start exploring from the beginning. This is the only way to get to certain landmarks without having to wait for the map to refresh. It also means that once you’ve explored a certain area, you can start exploring the remaining areas from that point to get to other areas.
